The “DeathLab” is an initiative within the project “The School of Death”
and is dedicated to innovative approaches and zeitgeist topics around death, grief, and dying.
It is an open-ended lab: a space for free experimentation, inspired discussion, and shared discovery. It is an artistic, experimental digital format based on joint exploration.
The first edition of DeathLab is coming in January 2026
DeathLab #1: Comforting Tools? — Grief, Mermory & AI
Do you want to find out how to preserve your memories in innovative ways?
Then DeathLab is exactly the right place for you.
DeathTech pioneer Lilli Berger shares insights into her work and, using practical examples, shows how AI can be used in the context of grief and rituals of worship and remembrance.
In the online DeathLab program,
you’ll find concrete examples and inspiration you can try out yourself, such as:
• virtual 3D memory spaces,
• AI-assisted storytelling
• AI-based podcasts, or
• memory chatbots.
